Description: “Kirirom” in Khmer means: “the mountain of joy”. Enjoy learning more about royal Khmer history during Cambodia’s post-independence era. You’ll walk the paths of King Sihanouk and his friends when the mountain was a site of joy, best captured in the 1968 film “La Joie de Vivre”. You will trek thru both civil war and royal history, seeing remnants of King Sihanouk’s beautiful villas and hear the echoes of Cambodian rock n roll in the pine forest on the mountain.

Optional add on: Stops at Wat Snguon Pich & Amphe Phnom. Learn of little known stories about respected Buddhist monks and fortune tellers during the war. Walk In the shadows of the horrific acts which took place at each of these little known sites during the Khmer Rouge era. The ZIN research team looks forward to sharing what we have learned from Khmer elders and archival research.

Please note that due to timing, ZIN reduces the above stops by one (the King’s Buddhist temple) when we visit these two killing field sites.
