What to bring

Kirirom Mountain is 10 degrees cooler on average than Phnom Penh and Cambodia’s weather can change throughout the day. Wear light, breathable clothes that are easy to wash and dry. For protection from the sun and insects, wear a hat, sunscreen, sunglasses, a jacket/poncho (for rainy days), closed toe shoes.

For 2 or 3 day tours, it’s a good idea to bring a spare power bank as power outages are possible on the mountain.

The sale of plastic bottled water contributes to an enormous environmental problem in Cambodia so we encourage all our guests to bring re-usable water bottles.

For all tours we recommend bringing insect repellent, particularly for tours in the mountains.

What not to bring

Luggage space is limited so please restrict your luggage to one small soft travel bag per person and a small day pack. Avoid bringing unnecessary valuables and we recommend scanning/photocopying all important documents (e.g tickets, passport, visas, insurance details) and keeping the originals in a separate, safe place.

Passports & visas

All travels except Cambodian citizens must have a valid visa or travel authority before entering Cambodia. Most nationalities can obtain a tourist visa via the internet before arrival or you can purchase a visa on arrival at the airport.

Medical conditions and insurance

Please note this tour operates in a remote area of Cambodia and as such, international medical facilities can be difficult to access. If you have any medical conditions or take any form of medication, please provide full details and nature of the condition to the team before leaving for the tour.

A complete first aid kit will be on hand with your tour leader but we recommend you carry items such as electrolytes, band-aids and paracetamol.

Travel insurance is compulsory for all tours and we recommend that you ensure your travel insurance covers you for all areas and activities your itinerary covers. At a minimum, we require that you are covered for medical expenses including emergency repatriation and we strongly recommend your policy covers personal liability, cancellation, curtailment and loss of luggage / personal items.
You will not be permitted to join the group until evidence of travel insurance and the insurance company’s 24 hour emergency contact number has been seen by your leader.

Dietary requirements

We aim to accommodate an array of dietary needs. We can cater to vegetarians, vegans and gluten free diets upon request so please let us know your requirements. It’s also essential you stay hydrated so we recommend drinking water throughout each tour/day. The team will provide water during the tour but it’s a good idea to bring your own water bottle for easy refills.

Please note; all meals provided on the tours do not include alcoholic beverages.

Our private vehicle will be a minibus, van or car depending on the number of guests. Kirirom mountain is 2.5 - 3 hour drive from Phnom Penh. Wat Snguon Pich is near Phnom Penh International Airport. Amphe Phnom, en route to Kirirom, is in Kampong Speu and is around 1 hour drive from Phnom Penh International Airport.

The US Dollar (US$) is widely used in Cambodia. Local currency is Riel. If you have dollars it is not necessary to exchange money into the local currency.

ATM cash machines are common across Cambodia however there are no ATMs on Kirirom mountain. The team can assist you with locating an ATM if necessary before arriving at the mountain or on the way back to Phnom Penh.

Drug use and misconduct

Illegal drugs will not be tolerated on ZIN tours. Possessing or using drugs not only is against the law in Cambodia, but also puts the rest of the tour group at risk. The team has the right to expel any member of the group if drugs are found in their possession.

ZIN is here to do good, positive things. We therefore do not tolerate any form of harassment, violence (verbal or physical), sexual misconduct, either between our guests or involving our leaders, local operators or locals.

If you ever feel another person is behaving inappropriately, please inform us immediately by contacting a member of the ZIN team or through our emergency contact number - 855 010 688 237.

The ZIN team will accompany you on all included activities, however during your trip you will have some free time to pursue your own interests, relax, and explore at your own leisure. Please ensure you use your own judgement and think about your safety at all times when choosing an activity in your free time.

The ZIN team has trained in safety related to the outdoors and in addition to your enjoyment, considers your safety a primary concern. For this reason, the team has the authority to amend or cancel any part of the trip itinerary if it is deemed necessary due to safety concerns.

Whilst staying in Cambodia, we recommend the use of a neck wallet or money belt while travelling for the safe keeping of your money, passport, credit cards, and other valuable items. Many hotels have a safe deposit box which is the most secure way of storing your valuables. A lock is recommended for securing luggage cases and large bags.

ZIN believes in fostering connection and community through each of our tours. We will help do this during your ZIN experience. We ask for your understanding of the various needs and preferences of your group. In some instances, ZIN will be accommodating many needs and concerns and we hope you will join us in the effort to be mindful and considerate of others too.

Due to privacy reasons, we are unable to provide contact details or personal information about your fellow travellers booked on your trip prior to departure.
